Before we immerse ourselves into a brand-new year of dramas, let’s raise a glass of champagne (or shot of soju) to #1 on our 2017 Countdown, the Best Drama!
Every year, there are those few dramas with famous headliners that get a ton of hype even before they hit the air. But what about the other ones that fell under the radar because they didn’t have as famous or popular of a cast? Never fear; that’s what we’re here for! As true drama fans, we’re willing to give everything a watch a least once. In our neverending quest to find the best drama, we’ve come across quite a few that were truly excellent, but didn’t get nearly enough attention this year.
2017 Countdown’s #2: Best Underrated Gem is for the dramas that deserve spotlights shone on them!

We’re back after a brief hiatus to catch up on our very *undramatic* real lives! Thank you for your patience and continuing to show lots of love to Drama for Real. We’re so ready to make our comeback and immerse ourselves back into dramaland. The new year is almost upon us, so what better way to get back into the groove of things than with our annual countdown. We didn’t get to watch nearly as many dramas this year as we would have liked to, but we’re excited to share some of our favorites with you!
To kick things off with #3 on the 2017 Countdown, we’re going to highlight the masterful acting performances of the Best Actor & Actress!

While we ring in the new year with all of you, our drama-loving friends, let’s take one last look back on the dramas of 2016. There were some good ones this past year, but we can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2017!
Here we go, 2016 Countdown #1: Best Drama!
Nothing makes the drama-watching experience more enjoyable than having great actors and actresses at the helm. A memorable acting performance can even temporarily distract you from the real world and transport you into the story. Thanks to the dedication and hardwork of both veteran actors and popular newcomers, the dramas of 2016 will be etched in our memories for years to come.
A round of applause (and love letters) for our favorites this year on our 2016 Countdown #2: Best Actor & Actress!
In the drama business, there’s a very clear hierarchy within the cast. You’ve got your leads, seconds leads, supporting actors, and well known extras. Even though some talented actors and actresses may not be getting the top billing yet, there’s definitely star potential there. An unexpectedly good acting performance from a supporting character can be the lone bright spot in an otherwise terrible drama. Or they could even liven up an already great one!
#3: Best Potential on the 2016 Countdown is for all the up-and-comers and stars-in-the-making that we’re waiting to see do big things soon.
When two actors really hit it off on screen, you just know this drama will go far. It doesn’t even matter if the rest of the plot sucks as long as they’ve got this special thing called chemistry. Perhaps nothing is more elusive than this in a drama. You’ve either got it or you don’t; there’s no fakin’ it. But if you do, watch out because things are about to get lit.
2016 Countdown’s #4: Best Chemistry is for all those couples we ship and love, friendships and bromances that warm the heart, and the perfect partners in crime!
Another year of dramas has gone by, so y’all know what that means…it’s countdown time! Just like the previous two years, we’re going to be counting down to New Year’s Day with a post each day highlighting some of the best parts of the dramas of 2016. Join us in recapping and reminiscing about the dramas and movies that made the airwaves this year!

These leading ladies and gentlemen enthralled us this year with their performances in some of our favorite dramas. Their acting prowess was on full display with the wide variety of characters they played. Even if we were just casual viewers before, these performances transformed us into full on fangirls. Make some room on your “bias list” because you might just have a new favorite after reading our list.
