Anna’s Recap
Is it possible to overdose on cuteness because I think that’s what’s happening to me. Just think about when Luo Yin and Gu Hai actually get together and become our OTP! That’s going to be legit way too much cuteness to handle. I’m glad to see that there’s less bickering and more flirty banter between our guys. It’s getting pretty evident that both of them think of the other as more than just a regular friend, despite all the girlfriend talk in these two episodes. It was probably intentional to make the girlfriends as annoying as possible to make our leads seem even more perfect, but whatever; I like it. Now it’s just waiting to see who will confess their feelings first! C’mon, bring on the cuteness.
Episode 5
Feeling bummed out after that whole “yo mama” drama from the afternoon, Luo Yin decides to drink his sorrows away. At the restaurant, he orders a ton of booze and food just for himself. But we all know that it’s no fun to drink alone, so who should join him but Gu Hai! Probably feelin’ a bit tipsy already, Luo Yin tells Gu Hai that his mom really isn’t a bad person. She was just never there for him and thought that his dad wasn’t good enough, and wanted to go enjoy a fun, baller lifestyle. Sounds like a real winner, no? Gu Hai tells him that at least he can see his mom unlike him who doesn’t have one anymore.
Luo Yin asks Gu Hai if he already knew about his family situation and if his constant picking on him was to not show pity. Gu Hai admits that he did know, but his teasing was actually his way of caring for him. Eeek! Luo Yin tells him about his girl problems with his crazy ex, Shi Hui, and how troubled he is lately by it. Gu Hai mutters that it’s a good thing they broke up because if they didn’t, there wouldn’t be any opportunities. Yesss. Couple more drinks later and Luo Yin is totally gone. And as Gu Hai’s carrying him home, he starts crying and calling out for his mom. No judgment; we’ve all done our fair share of intoxicated sobbing.
When Gu Hai gets home, he’s greeted by the sight of his super rich, but cold AF dad sitting there. No time for small talk because the only topic of convo is when Gu Hai will move back home and leave the crappy school he’s at. He tells his dad that there’s no fricken way he’s doing either of those things. Papa Gu quickly responds by beating him, but Gu Hai stands his ground and refuses even when his dad threatens to cut him off. Yeah, eff that guy.
Gu Hai purposely wakes up earlier the next day to bump into Luo Yin on his way to school. He offers to give him a ride on the back of his bike. Luo Yin’s curious as to why he’s never seen him here before since he knows all the neighbors around him. Gu Hai totally lies and says it’s because he always bikes to school before Luo Yin is even awake. Little does he know that Gu Hai actually just moved into the neighborhood to be closer to him. Cuuute. Gu Hai blames Luo Yin for making him late today because someone had to go and get wasted drunk last night. Luo Yin acts like he’s annoyed, but still hops onto the back of the bike.
They stop for breakfast at Luo Yin’s family friend’s food stand, and Luo Yin is a little disappointed/annoyed(?) when Gu Hai orders his own food instead of sharing his. But when Gu Hai sees that Luo Yin likes to eat the ham in the breakfast sandwich, he gives him his. So cute! At school, Luo Yin gives him back his freshly cleaned uniform jacket that was all dirtied from yesterday’s fight. He had even asked his neighbor for advice on how to clean the stains out. Gu Hai takes special care in folding and putting the jacket away nicely when he’s home because he’s that ridiculously adorable.
During another bike ride to school, Luo Yin asks Gu Hai if he wants to hang out and go fishing tomorrow. He first responds that he already has plans, which he does with other friends, but then quickly changes his answer when Luo Yin sounds disappointed. While they’re fishing, they’re all cute and flirty until Luo Yin gets annoyed that Gu Hai keeps talking on the phone with other people. And then when Gu Hai scared away the only fish, he’s sooo over it. Gu Hai sees this and wades into the cold pond to catch the fish BY HAND for him. What a bae.
Episode 6
Gu Hai is amused that Luo Yin is acting so happy that he caught that runaway fish for him. Obviously that’s not the only reason why. Luo Yin tells him that he was annoyed earlier because he was paying attention to his phone instead of to the fishing. And him, duh! He didn’t include himself in that sentence, but we know. Oh, we know.
While over at Luo Yin’s house to help drop off the fish they caught, Gu Hai asks if he could take a quick shower to rinse off the mud. Mr. Bai says it’s no problem, much to Luo Yin’s dismay. Gu Hai is all stripped down in the shower when he can’t get the hot water to work. When Luo Yin comes to fix it for him, Gu Hai asks if he wants to shower too. So considerate lol. Luo Yin refuses, but Gu Hai tells him to get his mind out of the gutter. Oops, I guess it was just me then? Luo Yin warns his dad to refuse if Gu Hai invites himself to stay for dinner because their cooking skillz suck. Mr. Bai agrees but then immediately forgets when Gu Hai does ask. Way to go, dad!
Luo Yin insists on walking Gu Hai home after dinner, but Gu Hai doesn’t want him to know where he actually lives. After saying goodbye to him, Gu Hai is biking home knowing full well that Luo Yin’s following him. He finds some random house to stop at and picks the lock to go inside to throw off Luo Yin.
The next morning though, he sees Luo Yin waiting outside that house for him. So what’s a guy to do but to climb up onto the courtyard’s wall and hurl his bike onto the ground. And since he’s gotta get his bike, the old man in the yard’s gotta let him come down and get it, right? Old man thinks Gu Hai is crazy, but the plan works and he’s able to walk out from the courtyard’s front door with Luo Yin being none the wiser. Success!
At school, Gu Hai is paid a little visit by…his girlfriend! She somehow found her way here to this poor place after not being able to reach Gu Hai for two days on his phone. And goddamn is she annoying. She pouts and whines that Gu Hai has to skip class to go hang out with her. When he tells her no and to leave, she gets paranoid that he found himself a new girlfriend. Really bad timing for that girl who decides to flirt with Gu Hai because his GF pulls her out of the classroom to beat the crap outta her. Gu Hai literally drags her away and has to reassure her that he’s not cheating on her. And if she insists on sticking around here the next few days, then she better shut up about how rich he really is. Counting down to their breakup…
Gu Hai invites Luo Yin to lunch with his girlfriend since she’s buying. Ugh, no thx! Poor guy is probably regretting it the moment he sat down. Let’s list the ways of how Gu Hai’s GF is da worst:
1. Gets jealous that Gu Hai put food on Luo Yin’s plate for him.
2. Refuses to let them order more food and insists that she has to eat that piece of food on Luo Yin’s plate.
3. Asks Luo Yin if Gu Hai has a girlfriend in front of him. (Didn’t we just go over this?! This dumb hoe.)
4. Tries to recruit Luo Yin as her spy with the promise of free food.
5. Insults Gu Hai’s current living situation. (Too poor for her liking, obvi.)
6. Tells Gu Hai that his handwriting hasn’t improved and looks nothing like the seating chart he copied.
UGH.
After a couple days of hell on earth with her, Gu Hai is finally freed when she leaves. He meets up with Luo Yin for breakfast, and tells him how his awful GF has always been this paranoid all three years they’ve been together. Luo Yin tells him to watch what he says since he’s been recruited by her to be a spy. But based on her looks, he’s not surprised that she feels insecure. HAHA. Gu Hai doesn’t feel bad for the girl that got beaten up by his GF since it’s not his fault that she decided to flirt with him. He’s not interested in her anyways since he prefers the less flirty, cooler ones. Luo Yin just so happens to be the opposite and does like the flirty types. They’re perfect for each other then! Wheeeee!
That girlfriend is so terrible. She cannot compete with Lou Yin in anyway, he is so much cuter.

I hated her! She played her role well as the rich, snobbish upperclass mad girlfriend.

The opening theme song is performed by the 2 lead actors (Huang Jing Yu & Xu Wei Zhou), but I’m not sure about the rest of the soundtrack.

Wow, loved the recap. Never really understood the fine details even with the ENG subs. Wonder if there are recaps of other episodes? The way you narrate was really fun to read. 🙂
