Estelle’s Recap

Xiang Xiang is still moping around about Gong Ming’s sudden departure at the hospital. Filming is delayed because she scraped her forehead and Yu Fei learns of her recent run in with Gong Ming. Uh-oh, I smell trouble.

Gong Ming calls Xiao Nan to find where Xiang Xiang, and he ends up at the studio. Yu Fei meets him out in the lobby and suggests that they have a little chit-chat.

Yu Fei cuts to the chase and asks Gong Ming why he is still coming around, especially since he is the reason Xiang Xiang has been so tired lately. Gong Ming says that he wants to be with Xiang Xiang and that she is just angry at the moment, but she will get over it. Yu Fei tells Gong Ming that Xiang Xiang no longer want to see him, and warns him to stay away from her because he is not qualified. Xiang Xiang rushes to meet up with them, but Gong Ming is already on his way out the door. Yu Fei stops her from chasing Gong Ming down and tells her that he was just stating the truth.

Gong Ming visits a park and bumps into an old man who resembles his teacher, Zhang Heng. The old man recommends Gong Ming to not be so hung up on one woman. He says that he had once thought his wife was a goddess, but after so many years together, the realism of life has chafed them. More specifically, he says real pearls have become dead fish eyes (eep!). And then he continues to say that women need to be trained, and that they should not be spoiled. What!! Don’t listen to him, Gong Ming! Spoil Xiang Xiang please!

Meanwhile in 16 B.C., Wang Mang finds Zi Xiu looking for the letter that Gong Ming sent. Zi Xiu wants to offer this letter as evidence to the Wang elders to prove that Gong Ming is alive. Wang Mang is angry and warns Zi Xiu to leave Gong Ming alone, but Zi Xiu is insistent on his mission. He blames Wang Mang for being soft and letting Gong Ming go one too many times before. Wang Mang recalls Gong Ming nearly killing him and tells Zi Xiu that Gong Ming is no longer a friend who will come to his house. Awww, Mang Mang~! Ming Ming is still your friend, don’t worry!!!

With Xiao Nan’s help, Gong Ming locates Xiang Xiang at the studio while she is shooting a commercial. He walks right up to her and starts to proclaim his undying love through a megaphone. Ok, I get it, but seriously, she is like two feet away, I don’t think you need a megaphone, young man. And is it me or does he really LOVE to show up at her workplace? I feel like if Xiang Xiang is a real actress, she would’ve been fired like ten times over. But alas, a drama is a drama and everyone is clapping ‘cuz homeboy Gong Ming just declared that he cannot live without Xiang Xiang.

Wang Mang’s mom wakes up to find her son sleeping close by. In a moment of consciousness she asks Wang Mang to give up seeking revenge because all she wants for him is to be happy and safe. He agrees to it and goes to fetch her water. Upon his return, she has past on. This is really sad. I feel for you, Wang Mang!

Encouraged by Xiao Nan, the ultimate romantic, Xiang Xiang decides to give Gong Ming a second chance (even though she claims she hasn’t forgiven him). Gong Ming explains where he went after sending her to the hospital, and she softens up a little. Then she asks if he really meant it when he said he cannot live without her, and of course, he says yes! So she runs to hug him. Well, that “I won’t forgive you” sure ended fast! I mean, girl even dropped her purse on her way to his embrace. Props for running in those four inch heels, though!

Xiang Xiang: I’ve missed you so much.
Gong Ming: Me too, missed you like crazy.

Now, Hold on a Minute:

• Jing Jie gets mad at Tian Xiu for being “unprofessional” at work, but everyone thinks she is just jealous. The director suggests that she get together with Xiao Nan instead. HAHAHAHA.

• Modern day Zhang Heng says that one of his ancestors is rumored to have held a position in the Han court. Nicely played.
• Gong Ming thanks modern Zhang Heng for teaching him in both the Han dynasty and in 2015.
