Estelle’s Recap

After about 10 minutes of repeated glory, we finally get to some new stuff! The Gong Ming x Empress Xu affair rumor is spread everywhere, and the royal family is also wondering the validity of it all. Gong Ming sends his teacher, Zhang Heng, to meet with the Empress Dowager in order to pass on the message that the Empress Xu is not pregnant. Empress Dowager convenes with the Wang family and decides to give Empress Xu a medical exam instead because Zhang Heng’s timing is suspicious. While the Wang family is celebrating, Wang Mang shows up and tells them that Zhang Heng was probably putting on an act, and Empress Xu’s people must have a plan already. The Wang family’s new head honcho, Chun Yu Chang dismisses Wang Mang’s warning as simple jealousy. Wang Mang vows to never help the Wang family again.

The Empress Dowager calls Empress Xu for a medical exam. And guess what? She is not pregnant! Of course, this is all because Gong Ming did some research in 2015 to find a medicine that is able to hide the pulse. Ying Yue was able to produce this medicine and convince Empress Xu to take it by presenting Gong Ming’s written last words. Gong Ming thinks that they should use this opportunity to put an end to Wang Mang’s political career.

What I don’t understand is that this Empress Dowager is the Emperor’s mama, why is she so evil? She doesn’t want a grandchild? #confunddled. Anyway, she declares that someone has to be the scapegoat. Since Wang Mang is the one who came up with the rumors and Chun Yu Chang is the one who pushed for the medical exam, one of them must go.

Wang Mang and Chun Yu Chang meet the masked elders. Chun Yu Chang claims that this whole thing was because of Wang Mang’s false information regarding Empress Xu’s pregnancy. Wang Mang argues back, but all is naught because Chun Yu Chang brings out Wang Mang’s plan to replace the Emperor. Just then, Wang Mang’s mom comes in and begs on his behalf.

The family basically gives Wang Mang an ultimatum – be the scapegoat or watch his mom get harmed. Wang Mang gives up and tells the Wang family that he will confess to the Emperor for spreading the rumor in order to prove the family’s loyalty. Then, he will take his mom and leave the Wang family. Dang, Gong Ming, you got Wang Mang cornered. I feel really bad for Wang Mang; all he wanted to do is really to prove his worth.

Gong Ming invites Wang Mang to meet at the textile, but Wang Mang does not show up. Zi Xiu hears word (probably because Wang Mang read the letter right in front of him) and ends up going. He sees that Gong Ming is not dead and immediately pulls out his sword. Gong Ming accidentally brings Zi Xiu to 2015 while fighting and guess where they teleport to? That’s right, where Xiang Xiang is taking a walk!

Xiang Xiang spots Gong Ming as he is about to get killed by Zi Xiu. She tries to stop Zi Xiu by planting herself in front of him. He slaps her away with ease and Xiang Xiang is knocked unconscious, with blood on her forehead. This enrages Gong Ming who grabs hold of Zi Xiu and chants the magical words to go back to 16 B.C. It is curious that Zi Xiu is sent to the Han dynasty, but Gong Ming somehow remains in modern times.

A worried Gong Ming quickly rushes to Xiang Xiang and brings her to the hospital. Man, this OTP is in and out of the hospital as if it is their own house. After making sure that Xiang Xiang is ok, Gong Ming returns to 16 B.C. full of vengeance. He walks through the crowd without hiding and of course, everybody thinks he is a ghost! Gong Ming finds Wang Mang and is about to kill him when Ying Yue shows up. Mama Wang sees this and faints at the realization that her son and Gong Ming are no longer bffs.

Gong Ming returns to 2015 only to find an empty hospital bed. He calls her up, but gets no response so he goes to her house. She finally comes out, but she is not having any of it.

Xiang Xiang: Why were you calling me nonstop?
Gong Ming: I wanted to see you.
Xiang Xiang: We broke up, there’s no need to see each other.
Gong Ming: I wanted to tell you ‘I’m sorry.’
Xiang Xiang: There’s no need. You wanted to return to that world, there’s no need to say sorry.
Gong Ming: It’s because of me you got hurt, so I want to say sorry.
Xiang Xiang: Then where did you go? Where did you go after leaving me in the hospital?
Gong Ming: I returned to the Han dynasty —
Xiang Xiang: I knew it. You going back to Han dynasty, or you staying here, it all has nothing to do with me anymore. Don’t come looking for me anymore.
