The Wang family holds a meeting to discuss the recent political problems. The family members think they can only rely on Zhao Yan Fei to regain the Emperor’s favors again, but Wang Mang is confident that he will be able to overturn things. Meanwhile, Zi Xiu is training a group of new fighters.

In 2015, Yu Fei is drinking his problems away. He still can’t believe that Gong Ming really exists; he is not sure whether Xiang Xiang was using her to begin with or if she was cheating. Tian Xiu tries to comfort Yu Fei by saying this is what he gets for dumping all those other girls in the past. Boy, you suck at this, like seriously, but at least Yu Fei doesn’t get angry.

Soon after, Yu Fei attends an event drunk and tells a reporter a bunch of unsavory things about his relationship with Xiang Xiang. So Xiang Xiang must cut her vacation with Gong Ming short in order to return to the film site to take care of business.

Apparently Yu Fei has decided that only him or Xiang Xiang can remain in the film. Xiang Xiang wants to talk it over, but he is uninterested. Xiang Xiang insists anyway and asks for Yu Fei’s understanding, but he just straight up calls her a cheater. She basically admits to cheating in order to put things behind them and asks for him to be professional about the project. He wonders if she is just seeking revenge for his past transgressions because he had thought they were happy together and he really valued her above everything. Xiang Xiang can’t explain herself, and Yu Fei accuses her of using him to achieve fame. He also calls Gong Ming a loser for living off of her. So she slaps Yu Fei and everything is worse than before. And it doesn’t help that Gong Ming chooses this time to go back to his time.

But have no fear! Just as she is about to get super disappointed in him, Gong Ming reappears with a bag of groceries. He explains that he had to go back to the Han dynasty for something and then he went to pick up food to make her dinner. Awwwww. Then, he tells her that he has decided to stay here with her! I mean the dude even told his teacher, PLUS he promises Xiang Xiang that he will wrap things up over there soon.

Well, don’t be too happy just yet because the Wang family still has a couple of tricks up their sleeves. Even though he may be crazy with anger and jealousy and who knows what else, at least Wang Mang is still the filial son he has always been. Finally, Mama Wang speaks! She asks if he was out with Gong Ming again and he replies that Gong Ming is soon to be gone forever. Uh-oh.

What Gong Ming made for dinner will remain a mystery, but at least we get a glimpse into their romantic after dinner activity! The two lie head to head on the floor, watching the stars through the roof window. They talk about potential vacation spots to visit in the future and make promises to each other to remain together foreverrrrrrrrr. BUT, only after he settles everything in 16 B.C. first. Oh, man, all this emphasis on “settling things” just means bad things are about to happen again.

And of course, ugly schemes are brewing! Wang Mang brings his crew of silly companions (you know, the non fighting ones) to meet the Empress Dowager aka his aunt. He tells the Empress Dowager that Gong Ming used witchcraft to put blame on Lt. Wang. The Dowager promises to find out the truth and that if Gong Ming is indeed at fault, he will be responsible for his crimes.

As Gong Ming, Ying Yue and their teacher are having a farewell dinner, the Empress Dowager sends an invitation to her annual party. Everyone is confused as to why the Empress Dowager decided to invite Gong Ming since he hasn’t been invited in the past, aside from this one time when he and Wang Mang were still close. Against all the advice to not go, Gong Ming attends since he thinks this will be the last time he sees Wang Mang.

At the party, Gong Ming and a bunch of other scholars are writing poems when the Empress Dowager comes by to speak to him. Suddenly, a swordsman run out to stab Wang Mang who vanishes with the aid of the pendant. The swordsman also kills himself after explaining that his deeds are to prove Gong Ming’s witchcraft.

In 2015, Gong Ming runs to the library to check out his future and learns that he and Empress Xu meet their death after news of witchcraft spreads to the Emperor. Meanwhile, Xiang Xiang gets the new script which details the changes. She thinks this is Yu Fei’s doing, but of course, he doesn’t know what she is talking about. She looks up the history and figures out things have been altered. Just then, she gets a call from Gong Ming asking to meet.

After seeing a super weak Gong Ming lying on her couch, Xiang Xiang rushes him to the hospital. When he wakes up, she scolds him for getting hurt. He explains that he fell into a trap and that the Wang family knows about the pendant now. In 16 B.C., the Emperor is convinced by Wang Mang and the Empress Dowager to arrest Gong Ming.

Gong Ming tries to explain to Xiang Xiang that he needs to return to the Han dynasty, but she pretends to not listen by completely ignoring him. In the end though, she relents and he goes back after wrapping a red ribbon on his wrist again. They say goodbye on the bridge and he leaves while she walks away.
