Estelle’s Recap

After confirming that Gong Ming is really actually into her, Xiang Xiang is all giddy. She returns to the interview and announces to everyone that she is in a relationship now. The host asks about how she dates, and she says it is like regular couples, but as long as they are together everything is better.

While Jing Jie is fuming and Yu Fei is bitter, Xiang Xiang reveals when she had her first kiss with Gong Ming. She says that she just wants to share her happiness with everyone else. The host asks who confessed first and Xiang Xiang replies that she did. Upon hearing this Yu Fei chides that maybe Gong Ming is not that into her after all. Xiang Xiang comments its because Gong Ming is conservative, not a playboy like Yu Fei. LOL.

The host compliments Xiang Xiang on her beauty and Yu Fei says its the result of makeup and lighting. Jing Jie and Xiao Nan are totally freaking out that this interview is turning out to be a disaster, but Xiang Xiang happily mentions that her dad thinks the same. Oh dear. But I’ll bet her straightforwardness is going to win her some points with the public. At least Gong Ming seems to enjoy this.

Xiang Xiang gets a new script that indicates Zhao Fei Yan loses favor and Empress Xu returns to her original position. She asks the director about it and he tells her this is how it went down in history. She looks up the information on her phone and discovers that history really did change! Ta-da! Go thank your boyfriend, you just became the star of the TV show you are on, girl!

In 16 B.C., Wang Mang is reliving his sad heartbreaking day when Ying Yue hurt not only his body but also his dear dear heart. He is interrupted and gets called in by the masked elders who pressure him to locate the person who ruined their plans. They suspect Gong Ming, but they aren’t sure because Gong Ming supposedly died. They also threaten Wang Mang’s life if he should fail to find the culprit. Of course, Wang Mang doesn’t believe that Gong Ming is really back so he begins to suspect Ying Yue. He spots her giving his maid some medicine. The maid tells him that the medicine works really well, but to not tell him its from her.

Anyway, back to 2015! Xiang Xiang arrives at a fancy restaurant and there is Gong Ming waiting for her. She is surprised that he picked such a nice restaurant and he tells her to thank Xiao Nan instead. This whole time I’m just like how did he manage to get the money for food and suit?

Good thing I’m not the only one who asked because Xiang Xiang posed the same question. So next we see Xiao Nan and Gong Ming at the pawn shop. Apparently Gong Ming brought some Han antique and sold it off for a boatload of money.

Now that’s out of the way, Xiang Xiang tells Gong Ming about the history change. Gong Ming feels proud, but Xiang Xiang wonders why is she the only one who is aware of the change. Gong Ming thinks it must be the effect of the pendant.

After downing some red wine, Gong Ming pulls out a bunch of luxury brand items as gifts for Xiang Xiang. We get a flashback of Gong Ming and Xiao Nan at the jewelry store. Since they couldn’t decide which item they like the best, Gong Ming bought all of the stuff on the counter. Xiao Nan begs for one piece, but Gong Ming coldly rejects. Oh man. This guy is so boss.

Next up is doraemon performance by Gong Ming! He dons the costume and does a funny little dance. Then, he pulls out a Chanel (is that Chanel?) necklace from the costume pocket and gives it to her. I’m telling you, every show got its jewelry. It’s like a must in drama world.

Anyway, Xiang Xiang insists on returning all the gifts and he’s a bit upset because he feels the need to express his thanks. Before Gong Ming launches on a long winded lecture, Xiang Xiang pulls him into a store to buy couple rings! She explains that the rings mean no matter how far or how long lovers are apart, they will always be together. He agrees that the meaning is great.

I guess the lovebirds didn’t eat dinner at the fancy place? They are having food (again) and they get talking about Gong Ming’s family and friends. He mentions Ying Yue and Xiang Xiang gets a bit jealous, but he quickly explains that Ying Yue is like a sister to him. She is still a bit unconvinced and wonders if there is real friendship between opposite genders. Gong Ming tosses the question back at her and points out that she has both Xiao Nan and Yu Fei. She tells him that Yu Fei is not her friend, but an ex-boyfriend. He calls Yu Fei stupid for missing out on her. Awwwwwww. Then they feed each other. Oh gosh, can they get any cuter? Seriously!

The two takes their date to the top of the bridge above a lake. She starts to do heart gestures and asks him what she means. He thinks she meant that he is as important as her heart is to her. She says he is close, but really she gestured ‘I love you.’

Gong Ming suddenly tells Xiang Xiang that he still has things to take care of in the B.C. so he needs to leave, but he will return in one month. They make plans to meet at the bridge, and he promises that he will certainly come back because she is here. And plus, he says they have already bought the couple rings. Awwwwwwww ❤ But these promises always means something bad is about to happen.

So Gong Ming walks Xiang Xiang back to her residence and gives her his ring. He explains that he can’t bring anything back so she needs to keep it for him in the meantime. She ties a red string on his arm (she finds it randomly in his bag…uh, random much?) for good luck. Ok, first the promise, then the good luck? Mmmm… sounds fishy.

Xiang Xiang turns around to enter her house and Gong Ming suddenly mentions that he forgot something. He walks up to her and gives her a kiss! Dude, why is this guy from the Han dynasty better at flirting than modern day folks?

Gong Ming returns to 16 B.C. and he is immediately caught by the Wang men. Zi Xiu, the main dude stabs Gong Ming in the heart and that happens to be where the jade pendant is! Gong Ming is saved, but the pendant breaks so he is stuck! We also see Xiang Xiang getting hit by a car as she rides her motorcycle in 2015. WHAT! DON’T DO THIS TO ME. DON’T YOU DARE.

I’m glad you are doing these recaps. I really wanted to watch this but no one seems to be subbing it so far, sob. I guess they are following Queen Inhyun’s timeline pretty closely so far.

It not scene for scene as far as I can tell from the recaps. Queen Inhyun’s Man is definitely worth watching, IMO. The OTP chemistry was off the charts good, and it had some of the best kissing scenes I’ve seen in a k-drama.
