Some biting occurs, both physically and emotionally.

Estelle’s Recap
Yuan Feng saves Yi Mei and gifts her the charm he bought. She asks him if he is trying to pursue her, and just as he is about to explain himself, she says maybe they can have a go at it which totally shocks Yuan Feng. She then asks if she still harbors feelings for someone else, would he mind. And he says no because being “so awesome and perfect,” he is confident she will soon forget anyone else. After sending Yi Mei off, he bites himself to make sure he isn’t dreaming though.
Xiao Xiao and Mo Sheng hang out one day, eating chips and drinking alcohol. They talk about their past, and Xiao Xiao gives Mo Sheng the same accessory Yuan Feng bought. She also tells Mo Sheng Yuan Feng is pursuing Yi Mei, but she doesn’t believe Yuan Feng can get with Yi Mei. Well, little does she know, huh?
Xiao Xiao asks Mo Sheng if there is any progress with Yi Chen. Mo Sheng confesses that she doesn’t understand her relationship with Yi Chen right now because sometimes he appears and sometimes he doesn’t. Xiao Xiao thinks Yi Chen must want to get back with her or else being as cold as he is he would not waste his time on someone he doesn’t care about, but Mo Sheng is worried that Yi Chen will break up with her again. She says she used to dream about it when she was in the States, and she doesn’t know what he has planned. However, she doesn’t really want to reject him either.
Soon after, Mo Sheng goes back to Treasure to get her keys since she forgot them there and she sees Wen Ming packing up to leave. Wen Ming explains that her situation will take a bit longer to resolve and she doesn’t want to drag everyone through the mud. Before she leaves, Wen Ming asks Mo Sheng to tell Xiao Hong a few words. Apparently, Xiao Hong had asked recently why Wen Ming doesn’t want to go back with their shared ex-boyfriend. Wen Ming admits it’s not that she doesn’t want to go back, but she can’t because so much time has lapsed they must’ve changed and perhaps getting back together will ruin the beautiful memories instead. All this gets Mo Sheng thinking as Yi Chen calls and she doesn’t pick up.
The next day, Yi Chen hears that Xiao Xiao’s case resolved nicely. Xiang Heng asks if Yi Chen accepted such low lawyer fee from Xiao Xiao because of Mo Sheng, and Yi Chen shrugs, saying what else would it be? Just then, he gets a message from Mo Sheng saying she is has work later, so she won’t be around.
Later that evening, the three amigos go out to dinner with Liang He, another big law firm in the area. In case if you haven’t guessed, Xu Ying is back and just transferred to this firm. Of course, it is such an awkward dinner because Xu Ying starts to throw bitter words left and right, insulting him about earning a lot of moola with Xiao Xiao’s case. Just then, Xiang Heng notices Mo Sheng outside taking photos and signals Yi Chen. Yi Chen excuses himself and heads outside. Everyone at the table talks about how Yi Chen is known for not being close to girls, and everyone is all like this is the first girl we’ve seen him with!
Mo Sheng is surprised to see Yi Chen, and despite his request to leave early he couldn’t get out of dinner, and so Mo Sheng end up joining them. Yi chen introduces everyone, including Xu Ying who is all like tell us about your pursuit! Mo Sheng confesses that Yi Chen was really easy to pursue, and Xu Ying immediately counters that she always thought women should be more conservative, implying Mo Sheng is not a good girl. Just then, Lawyer Yuan comes in and asks if Mo Sheng was the one that dumped Yi Chen and went to the states. Argh, wrong place and wrong time dude!
After the incredibly awkward dinner, Yi Chen talks a walk with Mo sheng by the river. She asks him how come he didn’t explain when they were talking about how she dumped him. He says he doesn’t know how to explain because even he thinks she was the one that left him. In reality, we learn that during tea with Papa Zhao, Yi Chen refused Papa Zhao’s offer to go to the States with Mo Sheng. Mo Sheng was also told by her dad to not let others know who he is.
Present day, Mo Sheng apologizes for what she thinks her father said. Yi Chen asks where the apology is coming from, her or her dad? Because he doesn’t need an apology from her dad. She says she didn’t know anything at that time, but Yi Chen asks why she didn’t come to question him. He tells her he hated her for so many years, but now he just wants to know if she had known all this would she still leave?
Before she can answer, Yi Chen asks if she will come back to him because he is not interested in restarting with some other girls. Ouch. She wonders if he just wants to be with her because she is compatible and to save time, so she tells him she got married three years ago in the States.
Flashback! Mo Sheng is so poor that she doesn’t have money to buy medicine because she donated everything her father gave her since the money was probably “unclean.” She even donates some of her clean money to Yin Hui, a student from her alum who is here studying abroad but needs financial support.
Meanwhile in China, Xiang Heng breaks the news to Yi Mei that Mo Sheng left for the States. Yi Mei is worried that Mo Sheng left because of her, and she wonders if Mo Sheng told Yi Chen anything. Just then, Yi Chen comes back and he asks for the books Yi Mei borrowed using Mo Sheng’s library cards. He doesn’t care about the books, but he knows Mo Sheng left her library card inside the books. He takes the card, peels off the picture and you all know where that photo ended up. Dang, he is some lovestruck fool.
Back Stateside, Mo Sheng gets a part time job as a waitress in a Chinese restaurant, but she doesn’t understand the customers so her boss changes her job to dishwashing in the back (how does she understand her professors then?). Business as usual with Yi Chen as he continue to mope over Mo Sheng and Yi Mei watches all this from the side.
Mo Sheng comes home to find her neighbor, Juan Jie, getting abused by her husband. Juan Jie came to the States years ago with her then husband because she really wanted to. Not long after, her husband left her for someone else in order to get a green card. Husband-less and poor, she felt too embarrassed to go back to China, so she marries some random American dude, Tom, her now husband. Mo Sheng encourages Juan Jie to call the police, but Juan Jie says she can’t because she still has a son with Tom after all. What the heck. BTW, Mo Sheng and Juan Jie both have pretty nice apartments. I’m so not convinced that poor people would live there to be honest… I have lived in Harlem and it doesn’t look like this at all.
Cue time jump! It is now three years later and Juan Jie’s son still looks the same… Anyway, Juan Jie and Mo Sheng are making dumplings for the new year. Mo Sheng thinks about Yi Chen and misses him while doing dishes.
Worthy of Note:
- Juan Jie hears Tom coming back at the end of the episode and she goes to check up on him.
Love this episode and I like that we got the “misunderstandings” out of the way also, is that kid really Juan Je’s ? Anyways, I love the OTP progress here 🙂

Yup, the child is really Juan Jie’s. We know the misunderstanding now, but Yi Chen is still in the dark! Not for too long though 🙂

lol I always felt that they could have been happy sooner if Yi Chen was not so stubborn.
