Everyone wants Mo Sheng’s digits, Yi Chen included.

Estelle’s Recap

Yi Chen stops Mo Sheng in the middle of the road and demands that she gets in the car. He makes up some lame excuse about not being able to park there etc., so she gets in his car obediently.

Yi Chen: Chinese food or Western food?
Mo Sheng: Chinese.
Yi Chen: You still know how to use chopsticks?
Mo Sheng: Are you taking me out to eat?
Yi Chen: You brought back my wallet so this makes sense.
Mo Sheng: You don’t need to be so kind.

And what do they eat? Sweet and sour ribs! Gah! He remembers!!!!!! I want to see them eat it awkwardly, but there they are eating it in a spoon and with chopsticks…dang, proper etiquette to the max.

While they are eating, Yi Chen gets a call from Yi Mei. Yi Mei talks to Mo Sheng and pretends to be super nice, asking Mo Sheng if she has been well and even gets her phone number. Right after they hang up, it’s Yi Chen’s turn to demand Mo Sheng put her name and number into his phone. When she hesitates he asks if she forgot how to type her name in Chinese. Oh man, just tell her you miss her and give her a hot kiss in some shady corner already! This is killing me!

Yi Chen brings Mo Sheng home and leaves immediately. I know he wants to go back, I just do. And right as she walks to her building she gets a call from him. Dang this man is desperate. He pretends to talk to her about Xiao Xiao’s case, and tells Mo Sheng to remember this number because its his. Oh be still my heart.

Yi Mei is having trouble concentrating at work and even her staff notices. Guess who is on set visiting? Yuan Feng! How did he even get in? Anyway, he is there, chatting up the cameraman (maybe this is how he got in?) and he feels mopey after seeing Yi Mei’s performance, or lack of. Yuan Feng follows her after work to see some street performer and she finally notices him. He pretends that it’s a coincidence, but she’s not stupid and points out that he has been following her this whole time. He says he is just trying to protect her from bad people since she looks to be deep in thought. Sure, sure, Yuan Feng.

The two get talking and Yi Mei poses a question to Yuan Feng: if a woman waits for a man for ten plus years but he still doesn’t reciprocate, does this mean she will never get a chance? He replies he has ulterior motives so he would tell the woman to leave the man, besides, if she couldn’t get together with this man for so long maybe they aren’t the best fit together after all. Yes, listen to him, Yi Mei! Listen to Yuan Feng! But no, she wonders if it is a waste for her to have waited for so long, so should she try one more time? Aiyah, Yi Mei, just let it go!

The next day, Mo Sheng shows up on time for her appointment with Yi Chen, and of course, there is no one there except for Yi Chen. It’s like one of those chaebol moves where he rents out the whole restaurant or aquarium or whatever, except for Yi Chen he just gives everyone else a day off. Anyway, he tells Mo Sheng to wait for a bit because he still has some phone conference to attend to. Dude, do you NOT write her name on your appointment book or are all lawyers this busy???

Yi Chen returns after a short while and he is all business with Mo Sheng. He opens his documents and starts to grill her with questions.

Yi Chen: When did you go to America?
Mo Sheng: 2004.
Yi Chen: Actual date.
Mo Sheng: September, 2004.
Yi Chen: Exact date.
Mo Sheng: The 29th.

Yi Chen: Which city did you go to?
Mo Sheng: New York, to study.
Yi Chen: Which school?
Mo Sheng: It is written in the material.
Yi Chen: Please repeat it.
Mo Sheng: School of Visual Arts.
Yi Chen: My English isn’t so good, please say it in Chinese.

Yi Chen: Because I don’t know so much, let me look it up. Oh it looks like a pretty school, top ten huh? I guess it is worth you dumping everything here to go all the way over there to study. So after you graduated what did you do?
Mo Sheng: I went to LA.
Yi Chen: Why?
Mo Sheng: Is this related to the case?
Yi Chen: Please answer.
Mo Sheng: I went to LA for personal reasons, and there was a good job there, too.
Yi Chen: You looked like you had a pretty good career, so why did you come back? Why did you leave everything and come back to start over again?
Mo Sheng: No reason.
Yi Chen: Next question. When did you come back?
Mo Sheng: This year June 23. 

And then the “investigation” suddenly halts! Yi Chen closes his files and tells Mo Sheng to get ready to be sued. He isn’t all harsh though because he recommends her to talk it over with Xiao Xiao to see if they can settle because Xiao Xiao’s real purpose is not to win this case. WHAT is Xiao Xiao’s real purpose? I’m totally confused now.

Later in the evening Yi Mei meets up with Yi Chen to do interview prep and she asks him what he looks for in a wife (as a supposed question she often asks). He immediately tells her to skip it. She pushes for it again and he says she already knows the answer. Oh hello! Of course it is Mo Sheng and no one else!

Over dinner Yi Mei starts to talk about the past. When Yi Chen moved into Yi Mei’s house she was nine and she was super happy that he is never going to leave. Yi Mei says she had always thought that they would never split up, but Yi Chen comments that they both have to grow up sooner or later. To fill in the awkward silence, Yi Mei brings up her classmate who just had a baby. The classmate graduated and then got married right away. Yi Chen laments that that was his plan too. More awkwardness ensues.

Yi Mei works up some courage and starts to confess and Yi Chen totally sees it coming because his eyes were full of fear. But she suddenly changes gears and mentions that her colleague wanted to be introduced to Yi chen so she wonders if he will consider others. He just smiles in response and then excuses himself to go to the bathroom. While he is gone, the waiter brings over change. Yi Mei opens his wallet to put the money back and notices Mo Sheng’s picture.

Meanwhile at the studio, Yuan Feng asks Mo Sheng if she knows about Yi Mei’s past since they are old friends and all. Mo Sheng tells him Yi Mei is a great girl but is probably already taken. Yuan Feng tells her it’s not possible because of the conversation he shared with Yi Mei the night before. This is new information for Mo Sheng and ignites hope for both of them.

The day turns dark and Yi Chen walks Yi Mei out the restaurant. Before they split up, he tells her the famous sentence — if THAT person once appeared before, everyone else would be a compromise. I don’t want to compromise. I actually feel a little bad for Yi Mei. Gosh, way to have your heart broken into a million pieces, especially after loving someone for as long as she has! I hope she can start anew now though.

Worthy of Note:

• Mo Sheng walks pass by Xiang Heng (Yi Chen’s college roommate and now law firm partner) and he wonders if that’s her. Just then Yi Chen runs out pass him too, and this confirms his suspicion.
• Yuan Feng bumps into Xiao Xiao at the studio and they exchange some insults about who is going to win the case. Of course, this angers Xiao Xiao more and she calls Yi Chen to push him to sue the magazine and hurry!
• Someone photoshopped a scandalous picture of Xiao Xiao with some random dude and posted it all over the internet. Mo Sheng is determined to prove it a fake.
